After attending Thompson's Watchmaking School in Kansas City, Mr. Lionel Sutton opened Sutton's Jewelry in 1950. Our store first opened its doors in Garnett, Kansas. Below is the original wooden sign that hung outside the store in Garnett. In 1969, Mr. Sutton relocated the business to 207 S. Main Street in Ottawa.
Lionel's Son, Philip Sutton, started as a Bench Jeweler in 1980. Philip and his Wife Cathy owned Sutton's together from 1995 to 2026. In 2018, the business moved to 213 S. Main Street. In 2020, their son Ian Sutton and his wife Lindsay Sutton joined them. In 2026, Ian and Lindsay became the new owners.
